Although I've changed the USER NAME and PASSWORD, everytime I boot up and
the login screen comes up it has the old USER NAME listed. I'm not sure how
to fix this problem.

To change the USER NAME I went to Control Panel, Users and Passwords, and
there were two users listed: guest(with guest listed under group) and
myname(with administrators listed under group). I checked the properties
for myname and myname is listed as the username, and myname for full name,
and the description is "account for administering the computer/domain".
Under Group Membership where the level of access is listed for this
user(myname) "other" is checked and in the box the word "administrators".

All this to no avail, my old username still comes up everytime I boot up
Win2000. Can someone show me how to fix this problem?

Here's a further clue to this problem. When I go into Users and Passwords,
there are two users listed: Guest(in the Guest group) and myname(in the
Administrators group). Guest cannot be selected, only myname is selected.
And for myname all the choices(add, remove, properties) are greyed out.
This seems to imply there might be a corrupted file somewhere. If this
makes sense, would someone tell me what it would be and if I can delete it.
