Can't see subdirectories

I'm using FP2003 (and Windows XP) to develop and maintain a website and
can't see some subdirectories in "folders" view that I know are there since
I can see them using Windows Explorer. The subdirectories exist on my
local computer but do not exist on the web server and therefore some links
don't work. I'm not sure how this happened but I suspect something happened
when I imported them a while back. Is there an easy way to make them
visible without re-importing them?

Do these directories have underscores at the beginning of their name? (i.e.
_mydirectory)

If so, FP explorer has the default setting of hiding them assuming they are
part of the FP extensions.

To change it, in older versions of FP, open the web and go "Tools" then "Web
Settings" and check "show hidden files and folders" (or something similar).
I assume newer versions of FP work the same.

No, the subdirectories are not hidden nor do they have underscores. The
subdirectories were created when I converted some Excel files each with
multiple sheets into htm files. I've done this with other Excel files and
it works fine, both on the local computer as well as the web server.

Ok, those folders are called thickets, and will never been seen in FP.

Tom:

But I've imported other htm files converted from Excel files and the
subdirectories and associated files ARE visible from within FP2003 and the
links work fine on both the local computer and web server. The links
associated with the not-visible subdirectories work fine on the local
machine but don't work on the web server as they never get uploaded.

When you save a Word document, an Excel document, or a PowerPoint
presentation as a Web page that uses an .htm or html extension, a main
HTML file is created in addition to a folder that contains supporting
files for the Web page. The folder uses the same name as the HTML file
of the Web page, in the form pagename_files. This page/folder
combination is known as a thicket.

A thicket is also created when VML graphics are used in a web page.
VML graphics are created when using FP Drawing Objects, text boxes (do
not confuse with any form fields) and Word Art.

Thickets are always hidden in FrontPage.
In Windows Explorer, you can control how thickets are manipulated:
(but these changes do not affect the way FrontPage treats them).

Tools->Folder Options
On the View Tag, look for "Managing pairs of Web Pages and Folders"
and pick an option.

If you manage to break the thicket association (in Windows Explorer)
then FrontPage will treat the thicket folder as an ordinary folder.
Note that publishing with FrontPage will upload the thicket, hidden or
not.

Thanks. I must have broken the thicket assocation somehow because I can see
that the subdirectories and files are correctly on the local computer web
site when I view them through Windows Explorer but are not visible within
FP2003. When I log on to the server website using Windows Explorer, the
subddirectories and files are NOT there and have therefore not been uploaded
when I published the website.

The local website works fine indicating that all the necessary
subdirectories/files are there. Is there a way, other than reconverting the
original Excel files, to reestablish the thicket association?
