Can't see PCs in Windows Explorer

We have a 2000 server and an NT server with 2000 pro and
WinXP clients. Almost all the clients have shares used
by other users on the network. On a fairly regular basis
the clients are unable to see the PCs in Windows
Explorer. They seem to disappear for a while and then
come back. While we can't see the PCs in explorer we can
keyin the machine name in the Explorer address field and
get to the PC. The problem seems to come and go. One
minute they're there, the next they're gone. Any ideas?

TIA

Stop and disable ComputerBrowser service on all workstations; leave it on
the servers only. Lock link speed and duplex (media type) on all NICs
according to the network equipment. You should add the backup browser for
every 32 computers and you'd better do it on W2k machines.
