i have home network of 4 machines 2 xp pro desktops one
xppro laptop and one mac with OS X panther .....
they are connected by a linksys dsl/cable router with 8
port hub built in ...lets put the laptop and the mac
aside for this issue as i have not worked with them on
this issue...i have left them off..
by IP all machines are pingable from each other and all
can surf the web but file sharing between the xp machines
is not working . i ran the wizard and setup the home
network all machines in same workgroup however the
following things are true:
on machine A(desktop) when i select view workgroup
computers i can see machine B( desktop) but when i click
it , it says i dont have access to that resource.
however on machine B when viewing workgroup computers i
get an error that the workgroup isnt available or i dont
have permissions to access it .
i dont get how i cant access the workgroup that exists on
this machine in system properties it is in workgroup
MSHOME (default) tried changing it too no help ....
anyway any tips or things i missed would be great
i ran wizard on both pcs and used all same settings (
connect thru residential gateway etc. ) ..
any ideas?
