I am running a Linksys Router (wireless) and I can't ping
any of the other computers on my LAN. There is an XP
computer on the LAN and he can see the other computers
including a printer with an IP address that I am trying to
get to.

I have Obtain IP address automatically turned on.

I also have Obtain DNS server automatically turned on.

I can get to the Internet but it looks like I can't see
anything within my local network.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kevin

Do your LAN have DHCP Server to assign IP address to you?
What is your wireless IP address and your LAN IP address?

Do you ping by name or IP?

If it's by name, what is your DNS setting? Is it a local Win2K server with
DNS and with dynamic updates allowed?

Thanks for the reply.

1. I have no local firewall on my machine.

2. The machines are probably not in the same workgroup.

The printer I am trying to ping has no workgroup. It is
connected directly to the LAN through a Jetdirect device.

I am pinging by IP address. The printer tells me what its
IP address is.

Yes. It assigns my IP address just fine.

My IP address is 192.168.1.101
My LAN IP address is 192.168.1.1

Thanks for the help.
