Greetings,
I've been using my laptop with a PCMCIA wireless NIC with several
different wireless access points and with several different dial-up
accounts for about 3 years and have had no problem.

The other day, I was playing around with Internet Connection Sharing,
stumbled through a few errors and now I can't access the internet.
This happened while I was connected to a wireless router. I tried to
dial-up and search the groups, but I couldn't access the internet from
the dial up connection either. I've tried several dial-up and wireless
access points, none of which will connect me to the internet.

So far, I've uninstalled and re-installed TCP/IP and my wireless
network card, re-installed the driver for the wireless NIC and called
Linksys for help and I still can't google!

I'm connecting to wireless networks fine with good quality links. I'm
also connecting to and authenticating with dial-up isps.

Thanks for any help or suggestions you could offer.

Matt

If you were set up for DHCP (automatically get an IP address), enabling ICS
turns that off and sets your TCP/IP settings statically to 192.168.0.1.
Check your settings and see that they are set to automatic.

Thanks Kurt.
I checked and DHCP is enabled. At least it appears to be. I checked
at:
Wireless Connection Properties > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties

Then some general trouleshooting is in order. When you connect to a wireles
network, from the command line type:

ipconfig /all

and see what your IP address(es) are (especially for the wireless). Also,
your subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server.

See if you can ping each of those (your IP address, your default gateway,
and your DNS server).

Then try:

nslookup yahoo.com

And see if you can resolve the name to it's IP address. You can post the
results of all that if you like.
If you get name resolution, try:

tracert yahoo.com

if not try:

tracert 66.94.234.13

You can post the results of all that if you like.
