I am computer-1. computer-2 cannot see me on our peer to peer network. In
fact I can't see me either, although I can see computer-2. On my computer-1
I have enabled file and printer sharing. How can I make my computer appear
in the local network group. All are WinXP-home.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
Firewall instructions.
General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted
When done hard reboot all network computers and the Router.
Jack (MS, MVP-Networking).

Speaking your language, Computer 1 and Computer 2, you could open the command
line in each of the node and try running a basic network diagnostic the
"PING" command with their respective IP address, the result of this well tell
you everything.
For instance if you get reply from both the nodes then your network's
physical connection if fine, but if there says DESTINATION NOT REACHABLE or
PING TIMEOUT it means you should check your physical connections , the hub(if
any) and most importantly the LED in your Ethernet NIC Card.
If thats not the case, that is if you seem to get the reply from the nodes
but you are still not able to connect with each other, then you could open
the command prompt in each node then type in "net config server /hidden:No"
[without quotes] , this should work for you, if not reply me back.
