Hi
I have 2 machines both running XP Home. I can see both computers on the host
computer, however on the client I can not see the host.

I have the local area connection set to 192.168.0.1 for the host and
192.168.0.2 for the client. Both submasks are 255.0.0.0. The connection is
made through a cross over cable. ( I know the cable is good as it was
previously hooked up to the host computer and a laptop thru a Linksys USB
connection and it worked fine. The reason for the change was I upgraded both
computers to desktops).

I have manually used a floppy network disk and the xp cd in a attempt to
correct this with no luck. One thing that makes me wonder is the local area
connection says 3 on both machines, is that a problem? Also on the host
computer it shows a 1394 net adapter. I have tried it both with a bridge
and none I also disabled the 1394 adapter with no luck. I also uninstalled
the network adapters and reinstalled with no luck Both machines are running
the same card the Intel pro/100 VE network. However the client machine does
not have the 1394 net adaptor

What am I doing wrong argg

Thanks in advance

The local area connection number makes no difference. The 1394
adapter is the computer's built-in IEEE 1394 (FireWire) port, and it
shouldn't affect your Ethernet network. Don't bridge the two
connections.

The most likely problem is that a firewall on the host is blocking
access from the client.
