Hi,

I have a new Asus P5Q3 mobo and want to use my IDE drives with the board
which is SATA except for a Primary and Secondary IDE on board controller
whgich I amusing with my IDE drives.

Thing is I have 2 other IDE drives which I used in my previous box
attached to a PCI controller.

I have put a new PCI IDE controller in the new board, attached the
drives to the end plug and booted.

Bios doesn't show them as as far as I can see it only shows SATA drives
which is my Primary XP drive.

They are picked up at boot and shown as WD drives but then I get another
screen just after that that says something like Checked New drives : No
drives.

Once I'm in XP, it also doesn't show them in Storage or in Explorer.

They are getting power and are vibrating as they should.

Any help here please?

Any "add-on" IDE controller card MUST have their drivers installed
into the XP.

All "add-on" IDE controller card "will" not show the drives connected
to in in the PC BIOS screens. The BIOS will not read the drives as
the PCI controller card have its own BIOS to display this info.

PCI IDE hard drive would not normally be in the PC's BIOS boot
sequence by default. You will need to "tweak" the BIOS in order to
set the boot sequence to "see" the PCI IDE card as the "primary" boot
"device" controller.
