A while back I posted the problem I'm having with not being able to see the
message content for any of these discussion groups. I can see the subject
and tree, but whenever I click a message, the message box is blank.

I received the advice to use the newsreader in Outlook, but I'm having
difficulty with that because I hadn't realized that my options were set to
delete messages after 5 days. In the end I only get to see about two weeks
worth of posts at a time.

I would like to back to my old way of viewing these discussions through the
Web. What do I need to do to show the message contents?

Thank you!

That option only deletes message bodies. The headers, and thus access to
the messages (View>Show all messages>...), remain until they're deleted from
the server.

Are you accessing this newsgroup via this page?...

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...osoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser

Try disabling your anti-virus application's Script Blocking tool.

Hi,

View > Show all messages is selected, but I only have the headers for this
discussion group from 08/05/2005 (today) back to 04/05/2005 and 07/11/2004
to 05/11/2004.

Followed the instructions again, but no luck either.

Yes.

Try disabling your anti-virus application's Script Blocking tool.

Tried that, but its not working either.

Is it a setting that I'm missing? I've just subscribed to
microsoft.public.word.pagelayout to compare and I can only see the message
headers from today back to April 27th.

Are you connecting to these MS newsgroups using news://msnews.microsoft.com
as the newsserver?

Do you ever compact all folders (see below)?

Try Resetting each newsgroup: Right-click on the newsgroup in Folders pane >
Properties > Local file (tab) > select "Reset"

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.
