I have a windows 2003 domain controller and 7 workstations that are all
WindowsXP. On half of the machines when I open my network places I cant see
the other machines. the network settings are the same on each machine. Can
anyone lead me in the right direction? Thanks in advance
Ken
Ken,
Is ICF, or any third party firewall, enabled or installed on any of
the machines? That will interfere with file sharing (browser).
If the problem isn't firewalls, provide ipconfig data here. From one
of the machines that can see the others, and one that can't - Start -
Run - "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Additional diagnostics. Calling one of the machines that can see the
others Machine A, and one of the ones that can't see the others
Machine B:
From Machine A:
1) Ping Machine B by name.
2) Ping Machine B by ip address.
From Machine B:
3) Ping Machine A by name.
4) Ping Machine A by ip address.
5) Ping Machine B (itself) by name.
6) Ping Machine B by ip address.
7) Ping 127.0.0.1.
Cheers,
Chuck
