First let me say that I could see and access this 2nd drive in Windows
Explorer just fine [as drive D:] before I did a complete reinstall of Windows
XP yesterday, by complete I mean wiping the hard drive C: and reinstalling.
Now I can see just the main drive C, the floppy drive A and the CD ROM drive
D. No 2nd hard drive.

RE: THE 2ND HARD DRIVE

It doesn't show up at all in Disk Manager

It does show up in System Info/System Summary/Storage/Disks
as a local fixed disk
(The main hard drive C shows up in System Info/Sytem Summary/Storage/Drives
as a standard disk drive)

The main hard drive has a hard drive driver, atapi.sys
The 2nd hard drive has a disk driver, disk.sys
(don't know if this would make any difference, because it seems no matter
what driver, it would show up in Windows Explorer as a drive with a drive
letter)

It shows up in the Asus bios as the primary slave

In Hardware Devices it says the drive is working properly

Hope you gurus can help, thanks!

Was the 2nd hd disconnected (physically) during the xp installation,if not
you might do that & reinstall xp.If it was, power off pc,move the drive to
other
IDE connection (set/change pin jumpers as needed),start pc,xp should
reinstall
