Every time I try to search, just as soon as I start to fill in the name of
the subject, I get the message,

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and has to close. Sorry if you
have lost any of your work, etc.

When I click on the button to see what the error is, I get this, which isn't
much information. It doesn't ask if I want to report the error to
Microsoft. Thanks for any help. Nancy

1. Try the System File Checker: at Start > Run type
SFC /scannow
and press OK.
2. A program running in the background may cause this. See "How to
Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP"
