Cant save folder setings

On my home PC (non-networked), I have 5 desktop folders.
I am trying to set the view (icons or details or
thumbnails) and the size and position of the folder (when
opened) on the desktop. After I do this for the 5 folders
all looks good. After I log off and log back on the
folder settings for the 5 are gone. All 5 folders when
opened have a different size and position on the desktop.
All 5 folders have the same view not the different views I
had orignally setup. I have tried the suggestions from
article "813711 - Your view settings or customizations for
a folder are lost or incorrect" but they did not work
(probably because I dont have more than 200 folders
setup). Any suggestions / ideas / fixes to try?

Just to let you know you're not on your own, Scott. I too
would love to resolve this one. (XP Home sp1, stand-alone
PC).
