Please help.

When I installed XP Home edition with MM2 everything worked fine. Now all of the suddent Movie Maker 2 won't save my movies. I have space, source file etc. I have reduced my hardware acceleration etc. Tried all the tricks.

Can someone give me a simple solution to get this program to save again.

Please help.

Thank you.

For others reading this > Harry's QASF.DLL file had somehow reverted to
version 6.5. By using the KB Article about the issue, he changed it to
version 9 and he back running MM2 fine....

I'm not sure it's qasf.dll. I found 3 copies of the file
on my windows XP directory. One at windows\system32; one
at windows\system32\dllcache; one at windows\registered
packages\{44BBA855-CC51-11CF-etc!]. The first 2 were ver.;
the 3rd ver.6. I copied ver. 9 to the location of the ver.
6.I kept my "search results" window open to note if any of
the 3 copies reverted back to ver. 6, or additional /
other ones appeared. No changes. No luck in getting
moviemk.exe to save a .wmv file.

Per papajohn "selected post" of 8/6/03, I reinstalled
windows media encoder package. The problem disappeared!
But none of the 3 qasf.dll files changed, and no new /
additional ones appeared. I have the feeling that it's a
sound encoder problem, as I had tried to convert a .wav
file to .wma using movie maker, and couldn't (but could
before, and can now). In any event, it appears that
there's a proper order to installing media encoder and
moviemk ver. 2. Version is WMEncoder.exe 9.00.00.2980 at
