Hi everyone.
I really hope you can help me as my master thesis is at stake. I am working
on developing a training program using power point. It includes action
buttons ant aciveX controls. I have been working with it for months now and
suddenly a problem occurred. When I am opening a file I get a massage: "some
controls on this presentation can't be activated. They might not be
registered on this computer: Everything seems fine though. Then. When I try
to save my work I got a different massage: "There is an active inserted or
linked object that can't be saved automatically. Please close the object
first." The thing is I do not see any open or inserted objects. I've
uninstalled and re-installed Flash player. Get rid of the redundant master
slides and installed Swiff Point Player. Nothing seems to help. Does anybody
has a solution? Copying or starting from scratch is not really an option as
it took me several months to get this far. I will be grateful for any
suggestions

Inadvertently, something got inserted. Reference your memory back to
the last point where everything was working well, and consider the
slides you have been working with since. On those slides, in normal
view, hit tab. Usually the first thing that gets highlighted is the
title text box. Tab again, and your next object in the "onion skin"
layering/heirarchy will get selected. Keep doing this until you find or
select something that is not visible. At that point use the
"right-click" button (usually between Windows key and Ctrl on the lower
right of the keyboard) and see what options come up. If its an object,
it should say so.

hope this helps.

ps - going forward, start saving in versions.

Open the VBA editor (press Alt+F11)
On the left side of the screen, you'll see a list of each of the modules in
your presentation if there's any code in it. But look for Slides instead. Any
that appear there have controls of some type on them. That should make it a
little easier to narrow down

brilliant.

btw - love the pptfaq site. Its been a great resource for me for a few
years now.
