I don't know why my computer usually restore/change back
my customization which I made previously.
3 questions for you to challengesee whether you can solve
one ^p^

1. Mouse scroll
In this setting, I can set when I move the middle scroll,
it will scroll for how many lines, or scroll to another
screen.

Change is made and OK is pressed.

However when I restart the computer, it restore its
default setting (ie 1 scroll, 1 line).

How to solve it?

2. Window Explorer
I clicked the option of "remember each viewing setting"
for each folder in "Tools | folder option | View".

I set my viewing settings and close the folder.
However in some near future, my computer will change it
to something which is not what I set.

Eg:
- change the look of icons into "display selective
description from the left"
- disable status bar
- disable "website toolbar"
- Files in folders are arranged in alphabetical order
(NOT my order of preference)

3. Internet Explorer
It has the same problem as Window Explorer except the
problem is less severe.

Only status bar is disable occasionally.

How can I solve the problems?
[Please tell me step-by-step if possible, thanks !!]

Thank you very much for your attention and answers.

Hi,

1. As Anando suggested, line 54.

2. That will help, but it depends:

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Windows Explorer/View/[Select Accordingly]. Then Tools/Folder
Options/View/Apply to All Folders.

3. Manual Edit

Go to Windows Explorer/View/Status Bar. Then go to Tools/Folder
Options/View/Apply to all folders. Works for IE as well.

Automated Edit

Enable Show Status Bar (Line 67)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Thanks, Rufus! :o)

Hi, all.
I would like to know how these *.reg (registry edits)
work.
(eg in where do they make changes)

And how I "uninstall" them if I wish to in the future?

And how I "uninstall" them if I wish to in the future?
In fact, I know I can export all my *.reg by
selecting "my computer" and press "file | export".

But what I wish to have is, probably in a quite long
future, quite lots of changes are made (inclduing the one
I download in Kelly's website) to the registry.

I just need to restore the Kelly's registry.

So I need to know how the *.reg change my registry.
How can I know the changes it makes?

The Save Settings on exit is a dword value, easy to change and the undo is
listed on my site, same place.

Nothing really to uninstall for the second one. It clears the bags and
changes the limit size. You can alter the hex, but not really necessary.

The third one is simple enough to undo, just uncheck the Status Bar.

None of the above are major registry edits.
