I have the WMM2 and have tried several of the suggestions
of installing direct 9, the rename codecs, I've done this
and that, I've read the Can't save movies thing and I
still can not save the movie to my computer. Everything
was fine for a while. Sometimes, it will act like it's
going to save but the minutes get accruing 9 28 110
minutes. I am about to pull my hair out, can anyone help

Hi there,

Movie Maker does not work well with MP3 and MPeg files. Do you have any of
these in your project? If yes it would be a good idea to change them to WAV and
AVI respectivly. There is free software that will do both. You can take a look
at the Video Help Link and the Audacity link on my website for programs to do
the conversion .

John,
I did have a MP3, converted it to wav. No go.
I have some stills that are in jpg, and some avi files. total length is right at 3 minutes.
Can you help?

there are 4 30-second avi files
about 8 jpg stills
one wav 3 minutes long
got one title overlay at the beginning.

Hi there,

OK, I have no explanation (real) as to why this happens. I had a couple of
image editing programs (and I can't now remember the name of the one in
question) It would create absolutely perfect JPeg's They were viewable in Movie
Maker or any other program I cared to look at them with. But, if I used them in
a MM2 project I would sometimes get a black screen, or the preview would just
crash. The solution was to feed them through an old program and re-save
them...that program is version 4 of Photo Shop. I did not get as far as adding
audio to the project, so can't comment on that.....

I have also found that saving JPeg images and using the "progressive" option
and importing that to Movie Maker also creates unexpected results. The
unexpected results seem to depend on what comes before the JPeg and on whether
there is a transition. As I was only interested in what to avoid in the future
I did not pursue the issue.

So, Convert your JPeg's to Bitmap and give it another try.....

Best of luck :)

okay, you're going to have to tell me in simple english how to find the answers to your questions? The avi files(and I may not be answering your questions correctly) I had to convert to avi from mov. about codecs? I don't know what it's using.

Seems your issue is about the codec used in making your avi files from
mov.... GSpot is a great utility to help you see what codec a file was
compressed with. There's link to it on the Setup > Software page of my site.
