I recently upgraded my machine from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate. After about a
week of constant slogging my way through issue after issue it appeared that
I finally had everything cleared up and it was working fine. That may not
be the case after all...
I have always used an external USB hard drive for some of my more sensitive
files, turning the drive on only when I needed to access them. Yesterday
was the first time that I've needed to do that since upgrading. After Vista
detected and installed the drive everything showed up and I was able to open
the Excel file just fine. However, when I tried to save the changes that I
made it told me "You don't have permission to save to that location. Please
check with your administrator". I am the only user on the machine and I am
the administrator.
It gave me the option of saving to "Documents" which saves it to my system
hard drive , which I don't want to do. However, I can save it there and
then move the file to the USB drive and that works ok.
Any idea why it won't let me save to the USB drive and what I need to do to
enable saving?
Thanks in advance,
Howard
