Can't run Media Player

I just installed XP Professional and when I double-clicked Windows Media
Player (the one that is part of Windows XP), I got the message "An
internal application error has occurred."

Can someone tell me what to do about this? Thanks.

If you don't receive a satisfactory answer
here, you might try the WMP newsgroups:

"windowsmedia.player"
"multimedia.windows.mediaplayer"

Just wondering, have you installed all the
updates from the Windows Update site?

Yes, I have installed all of the updates from the Windows Update site.
I do not know if it was working after the upgrade to XP but before I
installed those.

Thanks for the tip about the 2 windows media player NGs.
