can't run any programs from admin

Hi

I can't run any programs ie: internet explorer, anti virus etc from the
admin user on my computer. It is the only admin on here, how do i recitfy
this? can i create a new admin from a limited user acct? i tried to run
repair but it asks for a password that i never set and i tried the run>user
passwords2 and it again asks for a admin password

Which version of XP Home or Pro?

If Home then the Administrator password is blank by default. The Home
Administrator account is only accessable from safe mode, reboot your
machine and start tapping the F8 key after the machine goes throught
its POST stage. Once you get into Safe Mode login as Administrator
(leave the password blank) and create a new user with Admin privaleges.

If XP Pro hit Ctrl-Alt-Del twice at the windows logon stage and enter
the Administrator password that you set when you installed Pro. If you
have forgotten this password then go to
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and download the boot disk,
this will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system.
