can't reset autosearch from address bar

Somehow i have a third party search engine searching from
my address bar. I have tried to reset the settings to use
MSN but it doesn't work. I cantacted teh third party on
how to remove its seaarch and they told me to remove the
program in add/remove programs. and to reset my search
settings. all of which i did but their program was not
listed in my programs to remove.

a little help please

oft times the program is downloaded unauthorized(behind
you back) trying going to the companies website and
finding a program to download that removes the crap.
