Hi,

I recently installed a Minolta Scan Dual IV scanner. After a lockup I
had to reset (unplug) the scanner and reboot W2Kpro. After doing this
it was impossible to get the scanner working again so I uninstalled
all software from the scanner. I re-installed the scanner drivers and
software but still no luck. Also, after this mishap, an external
USBdrive would no longer function.
I got a yellow ! in the hardware list.
I tried to remove the minolta entries in the registry (they seem to be
the problem) but I get an error 'cannot delete *****, error while
deliting key'
I'm logged in as administrator and other settings can be changed or
removed. Only the Minolta stuff is behaving like this.

Anyone has an idea how I can remove these settings (short of
re-installing W2K??

Thanks in advance.

A generic answer that may apply.
Use regedt32.exe to examine (and alter if neccessary) the registry
Permissions (Security menu) on the keys in question (*just* those
keys, sub-keys).
Make a full registry backup (Not and "Export") in advance.

Or contact Minlota for support with their software.

Thanks... I finally got rid of these entries. regedt32 took care of
that. It didn't solve the scanner problem though :-(

That seems to be the sollution now...

TNX, happy holidays.
