Hi -

I've just installed Outlook 2003 and can't figure out a
way to get delete the default Contacts folder in my PST.

My wife and I used a separate PST that just contains all
of our addresses and phone numbers, and reference this as
our only address book.

I don't like having the default (in our case, empty)
Contacts folder be available and present because in
Outlook 2003, clicking on the Contacts button in the
Navigation Pane gives me the empty default folder, not
the shared folder my wife uses. I can set the current
folder for Contacts to be that shared Contacts folder,
but when I restart Outlook, it goes back to the empty
default Contacts folder.

Help!

OK, but I guess the more important question is how can I
make my "shared" Contacts folder the default folder that
opens when I click the Contacts button. As I said below,
it will do this within a given session of Outlook, but
once restarted, clicking the Contacts button gives the
default Contacts folder.

Following Microsoft the following works. It did for me.

To delete the Contacts folder from the Address Book, do the following:

On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Click View or change existing directories or address books, and the
click Next.
Select Outlook Address Book, and then click Change.
Select the Contacts folder that you want to remove, and then clic
Remove Address Book.
Exit and restart Outlook
