designed to remove this program(kaaza)and it still is
listed in my add/remove list. is there any other way to
eliminate this program from this list? please advise.

Delete the corresponding entry from the Registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

There's no kaaza listed. when I try to remove it says
C:\Windows\System32\cd_clint.dll could not be found. any
other ideas? thanks for the previous reply.

If it's in add/remove then it's under that key. Look carefully. It may not be called Kazza there.

If it is completely uninstalled when you try to remove it will say it ain't here and remove it. This means windows CAN start the uninstall, but the uninstall is failing.

There are only a handfull of programs that install/uninstall applications. Many older ones incorrectly put themselves in Windows own folders. If you have removed it then Add/Remove is probably finding the same installer but for another unrelated program. They were told not to do this when 95 was released but 95 had to allow bad programs in case they were from win 3.1.

You'll have to read every subkey to find one that mentions kazza.

I found a key in the P2PNetworking folder called Kaaza
Media Destop and removed it. do I need this P2P folder
for anything?

If you are mearly trying to get the program's name out of
the list, Download the free trial software from "Macecraft"
called "JV16powertools". Just search with google to find
it. Open it when you have installed it and go to the
"Registry Tool". There is a selection in the left row
called "Uninstall menu". Click it then find the program's
name you want to remove from the Add/Remove list and check
the box. Click the remove button at the bottom and you're
done.

If you are trying to remove a program WITH the add/remove
list and it won't uninstall, the only way to get it out is
to go delete all its parts yourself, including the registry
entries it made, if any. If you use "Spy-bot Search and
destroy" It will have deleted and removed the
"CD_Clint.dll" windows says is missing. If that's the case,
read the rest of this. If windows can't remove the program
because something is missing, The first and simplest way to
rid your self of the program you don't want is to reinstall
it if you still have the installer. Then go to "Add/Remove
Programs" and try again to use that. The reinstall will
have put the file back Windows was looking for and then the
add/remove feature should work, if not, keep reading. There
is a free removal tool available called "Kazaa Be Gone".
you could search Google to find it. The free tool does not
always remove every trace of Kazza in my experience, but
it's a good start. Always back up the registry before you
mess with it so you can fix it if something goes wrong. To
back up the registry, open the windows folder and double
click the icon called "regedit.exe", it looks like a little
baby-blue rubicks cube that is falling apart. when regedit
comes up, highlight the "My computer" Icon in the tree to
the left and then right-click it. Choose the "Export"
option out of the list that drops down. Save it anywhere
you can remember to find it later. Name it after the day's
date or a name you can remember like "registry backup
12-21-03" or something. If for any reason anything won't
work after you mess with the registry, just go to the
exported file you made and double click it. It will kick up
a little window asking if you want to add the information
to the registry, click yes and when it finishes, reboot.
Whatever was messed up should be fixed. When it finishes
exporting, the only way you can find most entries a
program's installer makes, is to go key by key and look
under the folders called "Software". Just click the little
+ symbols to expand the tree and look for a folder named
after the program you want gone. Collapse the folders as
you move on or you'll have a maze to work theough as you
go. Look for the programs name you are trying to remove and
also the name of the company who makes the software. You
can find the company's name that makes the software you
want to get rid of by going to the folder it is installed
in and right clicking the .exe file that is named after the
program (For instance "Kazaa.exe"). Click the "Properties"
option that is listed in the window that opened, then click
the "Version" tab and then click on the word "Company" in
the "Item Names" box. In the box to the right it will give
the name of the company that makes the software and you can
look for it in the registry. When you find the folder or
folders in the registry, just right click them like
anything else and delete them. It will ask if you are sure.
Tell it yes only if you are sure no other programs in the
computer are made by the same company. For instance if you
kill a folder called Symantec, norton antivirus will quit
working, but everything else by symantec will die too
(norton firewall, norton system works, norton commander,
get the picture?). If it's Kazaa you are trying to get rid
of, you will need to look through all the keys to find
"Sharman Networks or Sharman Industries" The company that
makes Kazaa is named something like that. Kazaa's web site
probably tells their name at the bottom of it's page. Look
for folders in the registry named "Sharman" and "Kazaa" or
any combination of the two. Delete them then go into the
"Program files" folder and delete any folders with the same
names there. Reboot and Kazaa shuold be a long gone bad
memory. Hope this helped you.
