can't remove a browser running over desktop

I ran the anti-spyware and removed over 50 files. There
stills seems to be some spyware or other virus running. I
have a browser of some sort running over my desktop
display. Before I ran the program it displayed a web
site. Now it is still there, but only displays a white
flashing screen. Also, some internet shortcuts are
periodically placing themselves on the desktop and I am
having some pop up issues. Any suggestions as to what I
can do to find out what is going on and what I can do
about it?
 
Run a full system scan in Safe Mode. On the Scan Page choose Scan Options >
Full System Scan. Remember to disable System Restore before you enter safe
mode. And also run a scan using your antivirus program, since AntiSpyware is
not a solution for finding viruses.
