Hi I hope someone can help me. I have a very similar
problem to Randy.

I run 3 computers off a router (new) to DSL line.

Computer1
Can go on the internet
Recognize the router
Can hook up using any cable

Computer2
Recognize the router
Go on the internet
Is linked to 1

Computer3 ( This is the bad computer)
Will connect directly to internet only with Adsl modem
Cannot recognize 127.0.0.1 with Fwall enabled will work
with FW disabled. Card has to work cause it can go on Net
when connected directly to modem. Will only give a
169. .. Ip address
Will not release IP address doesn't give the 0.0.0.0 it
stays at 169...

Ideas from net
Tried to uninstall Avirus/ FW software Norton then
reinstall. Didn't work when software not on puter nor did
it work when NAV was reinstalled.

Try to uninstall TCP.IP then reinstall ( read somewhere
that the stack was overloaded)
I think I tried this ( not sure of the steps I needed
to follow)

Does anyone have the solution to my problem. I
appreciate the help.

Thanks

Pat

Pat,

the software firewall in Windows XP should never be enabled on
an internal LAN connection to your other computers. When you run
your computers through a router (with NAT = Network Address
Translation), firewalls should be enabled on any of the
computers, as the router is now the firewall.

But this doesn't seem to explain the whole problem, so there may
be something else. Please have a look at
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm.
