Can't reinstall WindowsDefender Beta 2

I had WindowsDefender Beta 2 running on my computer, but there was a minor
problem with it (it kept telling me that it hadn't performed any updates on
the main screen, however, when I did click on the "update now" button - it
either updated or told me it was up to date - and I could not get the main
screen to tell me it was actually up to date.

I tried reinstalling the program, but since it was on my computer it
wouldn't let me. I then uninstalled the program (and rebooted) and tried to
install it again and I either click on run or save and it doesn't do
anything. If I click on run, it looks like it's downloading the install
program to a temporary folder, but it doesn't actually run upon completion (I
can't find the file in any temporary folder). If I click on save, it looks
like it's saving the file (in "My Downloads" or "Desktop"), however, the file
is not there upon completion - so I can't run it. Very wierd!!!!

I even did a search and removed any remaining reference to WindowsDefender
from my computer (including the registry) - and the same thing happened.

Can anyone help me get this program to install on my computer again???
Microsoft doesn't provide tech support for beta products, so they told me to
try here for any assistance.

I've two thoughts about this:

1) disable real-time protection in your antivirus while attempting the
install--remember to re-enable it afterwards.

2) if that does not help--look for a message in .announcements from Mike
Treit--in the last week or so. It has a series of troubleshooting steps for
an issue with Windows Defender that sometimes interferes with downloading.

Thank you. After temporarily turning off my anti-virus, I was able to
reinstall this program. I should have known to do that, thanks again for the
reminder that this causes conflicts at times.

Its one of those things that I never remember to do myself, and I've just
been lucky, I think.
