Can't record back to DV tape

I don't care for the SAVE TO DV tape Wizard because it
does not really indicate at what point I need to start
the tape rolling (recording). Doesn't WMM set up a
temporary file of my movie prior to sending it to the
tape? In any case, I always get a message stating the
movie was not recorded (it wasn't), but it doesn't say
why not.
I'm connected via IEEE1394 properly; i.e. I can control
the videocam via the computer and I can capture, but I
can't SAVE from the computer back to tape. Heeeeeelp!

Yes MM2 does first create the movie on your computer before it transfers
it. That procedure works well for me. Can I suggest you obtain a copy of
WinDV. Its a small utility that has just two functions. It will grav a
DV-AVI file from your DV camera or it will send one to your DV camera....I
have heard good comments regarding it...I have used it just once to try it
out and it was great for me too. I think the url is www.windv.com...if

Maybe a daft question, but have you checked that the protection tab on the
DV tape isn't in the "Save" position?
