My sister just got a new HP computer with Vista. She just got Comcast
broadband yesterday and we can't receive mail. We can send mail. We
have put in the appropriate server setting for incoming and outgoing
mail. We can send mail with no problem but cannot receive mail.

When we try to get mail me get and error message 'Your server has
unexpectedly terminated the connection". We called comcast and they
walked us through checking the network etc and said the trouble is not
with them.

Any ideas what we can try to get this fixed?

Thanks,
Doug

Are you using Norton or McAfee antivirus software?

I believe she does have Norton antivirus software. Should we change
some settings?

Norton antivirus is known to be incompatible with Windows Mail.
It needs to be completely uninstalled and replaced with a
compatible alternative such as Avast or AVG. (both free)

Ensure that email scanning is disabled and it is also
advisable to delete and recreate the account settings in WM.
