Hi. The only way to check for mail in Outlook 2007 is to do a manual send and
receive.

The account settings are find. I can send and receive manually.

I've dropped the send/receive checking to 1 minute in Tools->Options -> Mail
Setup -> Send Receive. In the same spot, they are all checked off.

I trashed the send/receive .SRS file. I've killed and recreated the mail
account as well.

Ideas?

Then that's going to EXACERBATE the problem not cure it.
Set it back to at LEAST ten minutes...

First, I know someone who has the exact same problem that Gisabun mentioned.
The accounts were removed and the .SRS file was deleted [when Outlook was
closed]. Didn't fix the issue.

Second, I don't think there would be a difference between 1 minute 10
minutes or 30 minutes - unless you can show me somewhere where it does say
that there is an issue setting to 1 minute [in that case it should be an
option to choose].

There's LOTS of difference. When Outlook does a poll it sends and receives
packets which takes time. if you set the polling interval to LESS time than
it takes for the mail server to respond to the send and receive commands
then the mail server gets tied up and can't respond to one command before
the next one is on it.
That's why the DEFAULT setting in Outlook is TEN MINUTES....
