Can't receive icmp (ping)

I have a problem. I can't receive a ping from another
compouter, router, or firewall. I can ping internal and
external addresses, but when they try to ping me, it
doesn't work. I also can not send/receive files on my
tftp program. There are were no changes made to my tftp
program.

I have all the security and patches for Windows 2000 - my
operating system. I have a Cisco 501 firewall that is
doing no icmp filtering. I can ping the fw, but it can't
ping me. I can also ping through the fw. I even set up a
static route through the fw, straight to me, but I can
accept a ping that way either.

I do not have any software firewall on my computer.

I am not filtering any ports though my network properties.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Something, most likely your router (almost 100%) is
blocking incoming ICMP traffic either to you or your
network behind the firewall. Investigate it further, I
would bet it has to do with your firewall.

I'm pretty sure it not the firewall - 99.95% because I've
tried it on 3 networks and same thing. I even tried it
with a public IP address and couldn't ping it. So, I'm
guessin' it ain't the firewall, but thanks for the reply.

Could an IPSec implementation be stopping it?

Does anyone have any other ideas why I can't use icmp or
tftp. I'm thinking it has something to do with denying
udp on the laptop. However, I don't have anything
blocking udp ports. I had to update a router last night
and I couldn't ping or use tftp on this laptop, so I took
another laptop and could receive pings and use tftp.
Therefore, I'm certain that is has something to do with
this laptop and something being blocked. Like I said
before, it behaves the same way, no matter what network I
put it on.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling tcp/ip. also
what happens when you run tracert from a pc that cannot
reach that machine? also check in the tcp/ip properties
then click the advanced button and then the options tab
then highlight the tcp/ip filtering, click properties and
see if anything is being filtered locally.

are there any errors in the event log related to the
failure on the pc's that cannot reach that pc

last but not least try a different NIC. I have seen
network cards not be able to transmit certian protocols or
even certain directions.
