Using Win 98 SE, PP 2002

Sent a CD to a cousin who uses Win 98, and she said there was absolutely nothing on the CD. Ask her
to return it to me so I could try to figure out the problem. Got the CD, and it works perfectly.
All files show to be there including the PP Viewer. Any ideas as to the problem and how to correct it/them?

Is it a CD-R or a CD-RW? Some older CD drives can't recognize information on
a CD-RW.

Further to Kathy's suggestion, sometimes older computers can't read CDs
if they were burned as "multisession" and/or not "closed." Make sure the
files are burned to the CD all at one time, and then make sure to have
your burning software "close" the CD.

Echo,

You wrote "Close the CD". I have the options of "No Muultisession" and "Finalize CD". Is one or both of these what you mean about closing the CD?

All of the files were burned at the same time.

Kathryn

Kathryn,
Sorry I didn't get back to this yesterday. Glad Echo did. "No Multisession"
means write everything at once. "Finalize CD" is what Echo means about
closing the CD. Even if you do "No Multisession" you may need to still close
the CD.

Is there another computer you can check the CD on? It would be worth knowing
what shows on the CD on a computer other than your own.

Something else that would help to know: What software are you using to write
the CD? Some are not as intuitive as you would think.

Kathryn,

I'm using Nero ver. 5.5.10.25 which I understand is their latest version.

Have a friend across town that has a computer. Will try it on her computer.

Thank you for clarifying the closing of a CD-R.

Nero is a good program, Kathryn. Good choice.

Kathryn J is right -- I meant the "finalize the CD" option. I guess
older programs probably call it that. Or each software calls it
something different, maybe!

You are welcome. Please let us know if the new CD works!
