can't read file header

I can't open jpg files that are photos from Coolpix digital camera
downloaded to a computer in our home net. I have the following while I using
Irfan Viewer
Can't read file header! Unknown file format!
Or after using Photoshop
Could not open file because the file is locked.
I use Windows XP Pro.
The computer where files were downloaded uses Windows XP Home and has no
problem with them.
Any help will be appreciated.
 
Sorry but I could not find anything useful for my problem solving with your
link.
I can add that the same photo being sent to my computer as an attachment I
can open OK. And I can't copy corresponding files to my computer too.
