Can't Read Anything in Windows XP

"I've owned a Presario Desktop 8000z since 12/2001.
Recently I booted up and cannot read anything on windows
xp home edition. Please help. I can copy what little I
can see and if I load on another machine files are not
corrupt. System Save D was full." Even the sign on
screen is in another language(character mode).
 
Someone may be playing a little trick on you. Either (a)
they switched the language, or (b) they switched the
screen font.

Right-click on your desktop. Click the tab 'Appearance',
then click 'Advanced'. There's a drop-down list for every
section of your display, check the Font setting for each
one, particularly Scrollbar.

If that don't help, get a virus scan done.
