Can't re-store an item to customize(?) my computer

To Whom It May Concern:
Please help me. I know it may not seem like a major
problem to you, but it is annoying the crap out of me.
There is a way which you can set your computer to greet
you, when it boots up, and also when it turns off. This
feature was working just fine, then all of a sudden it
quit working. Would you please be so kind as to tell me
how to fix this?

Control Panel> Sounds and Audio Devices> Sounds
The startup events "Start Windows" and " Exit Windows" play respectively at
startup and shutdown. Assign whatever WAV files you want to these events.

I notice your email is @msn.com. I don't use the software but if I remember
correctly, it can be configured to greet the member that is signing on as
well. See the MSN help file or MSN support pages if you need help with
these.
