Can't re-install TCP/IP!?

I am having a problem, I had some connectivity issues that I was trying to
fix deleted a bunch of registry entries and now I am getting the below error
when I go to Add/Remove components and reinstall Networking Services during
the phase "Completing configuration of management and Monitoring tools.."

"Could not install the simple tcp ip services component because a file or
registry entry is missing."

I am pretty sure it is not a file missing. Any ideas on what to look at /
fix?

Neither is working in my case. When I install my network cards I get "Error
31" This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the
drivers required for this device, even though I know I am using the correct
drivers.

When I goto Network and Dial Up Connections it is completely empty except
for AGN Virtual Network Adapter. (i.e. there is no LANs listed) When I try to
add a LAN the wizard walks me through the steps and then nothing happens.

Previously when I did have a LAN listed when I tried to add a protocol I got
the error: Could not add the requested component. The error is: The system
cannot find the file specified

I have tried to install TCP/IP by right clicking the INF and hitting
"Install" that has not helped.

I have tried re-installing Windows over itself and used the repair option
and that has not helped.

The links you have provided do not seem to address my problem at all.. can
you provide further direction?

How can I get Dial up networking working again on my system?
