I just upgraded my existing Windows ME to XP, downloaded
all the upgrades , and bios upgrade to A11. The printer
port is working just great on ME. but wont print anything
on XP. I have re-installed the printer several times, even
uninstalled the port and tried again. It installs just
fine, but every print to it fails. I'm a bit confused. I
can put the old drive back in with ME , and all works
great. I connect the cable from the printer to my laptop
using XP, bam.. works just fine... HELP...!!!!!!

Thanks
Bob

Well Cari, now I'm even more impressed with XP, it still
doesn't work. Following that web page to the letter, and
downloading the driver from the HP web site. This just
keeps affirming my disgust with Microsoft, and their
ability to upgrade software operating systems.

Thanks

Since the BIOS is A11, is this a Dell? Configure the LPT BIOS to AT or
Bidirectional for this older device. ECP might work but if that is the
current setting change to one of the other.

Yes it is a Dell, and it works just fine in ME as an ECP port. I changed it to Bi-Directional and even tried EPP. NO GO..!!!!! It is agravating as hell. So much for Microsoft support... they womt even answer my email. IM IMPRESSED AGAIN..!!!!
