Hi! Hope someone can help.
I have a network set up at home with a cable modem, wireless router, 2 desktops and a laptop.
I also have a second laptop, from my workplace, which I connect to the router when I am at home so that I can connect to my work network.
Bought a new printer (HP Officejet 7310) which can be connected to the network via the router so that I do not have to connect it to one of the desktops and then share it. That works fine for the 2 desktops and the home laptop.
The problem is the work laptop. I sign on to it with cached credentials for our work domain. I installed the printer software on the work laptop (same as I did the other computers) and it appeared to find the printer OK (found the correct IP address for it anyway!). However, when I go to print anything, it tells me that it can't print because of the following possible reasons (I don't have the exact text, but you'll get the picture): the printer is off (nope...it's on); the network cable is unplugged (nope..plugged in); or VPN is blocking it.
Basically, I can't use the new printer from my work laptop! Even when I am not really connected to my office network. (I already know that THAT is a no no from our IT department).
Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this problem? I don't really want to have to attach it to one of the desktops again.
Thanks in advance for any hints/suggestions!
Tom
P.S. All machines are running Windows XP/Pro service pack 2.
