Hi,

i can't do any printing in the command mode - i get the message 'cannot
initialize device PRN'

i've tried everything i can think of as we need to do this for a legacy
program - can somebody give me some suggestions ?

thanks, rob

PRN is the LPT1 port, so what is connected to the LPT1 port? What do you
have for a printer?

we're using an Epson C62 on port usb001 and also connected it to the
parallel port of the computer with the same results...

thanks, Rob

When its working in Windows on the LPT1 port have you set the LPT1 port
to bi-directional in the BIOS. And in Device manager set the port to use
an interrupt?

LPT1 port is set to ECP mode, addr 378, IRQ7 and works normally in Win2k
using usb001...

If it's physically using the LPT1 port, it shouldn't be usb001. I think
there is something fishy in the install.

Rob, try this:

Go to Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT).

D-click (or right click and select properties) on ECP Printer Port.

Select the <Port Settings> tab.

See if "Enable Legacy Plug and Play Detection" is checked and if not,
check it and select the port you want to use (make sure it's the same
one that your command-mode program is trying to use).
