can't print from IE

I have an USB HP printer hooked up to an XP machine. I can
print from notepad, Office XP programs, etc. but I can't
print email from Outlook or Outlook Express, neither can I
print from Internet Explorer. Clicking on the print
button, or going through the menu, nothing happens, if I
select print preview, IE hangs. Anybody seen something
like this before?
