When connected to my remote sight, I can preview some of the pages in
the browser, but not others. Any clues?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
You posted twice but I deleted the first, thinking it was the same. Is it
the same query ?

Anyway, when you say preview in browser, I assume that this invokes IE (or
another browser)
If so, then anyone should see the same action occurring.

So what is the URL of the remote site (and the pages in question)?

With this info, I can let you know what I see.

Trevor,

ftp://celebrantassist.com.au/wwwtest/Site

Page: Testimonials.htm

Thanks,

Clive

Trevor,

I may have mislead you.

The site/URL is ftp://celebrantassist.com.au/wwwtest

The pages are held in a Folder within it, called Site, which contains
the pages. I tried to change the Folder name to lower case, but it
said already had one. It's a Microsoft host.

Right Click > Preview in Browser works fine for all the pages except
one called Testimonials.htm I republished it, but it still brings up
the standard 'This page cannot be displayed' message.

Thanks

Clive

What is the URL for viewing the pages in a browser? FTP is for
uploading/downloading.

Ron,

I understand that, but FTP is the only way Frontpage will allow me to
publish, so in the Frontpage window, it shows the site location as
ftp://celebrantassist.com.au

The production site is in a folder within it, called wwwroot. I
created a folder at the same level, call wwwtest and published my test
version to it. So far so good. All the pages are displayed In the
Contents of wwwtest/Site in the right hand pane, and I can right click
Preview in Browser and see any page except Testimonials.htm, which comes up with 'The page cannot be displayed'.

I can see any page in the production site by entering something like
www.celebrantassist.com.au/Site/Testimonials.htm into the browser but I
don't expect to be able to do that for the test site. The question is
why will frontpage show any page except that one?

Thanks for your patience,

Clive

Publishing is not the same as viewing. We need to see the page, not
Publish it.
What is the URL for the page - start http://

To use the FTP address, I need your username and password - DO NOT publish
that here.

OK. Thanks. How do I get my username and passwrod to you?

Clive

Clive,
I am coming in a little late on the others replies, but it is still daylight
hours in Australia.

SO
Don't send your username and password over the web, especially not to a
public newsgroup.

We need to see your site as in http://tandcl.homemail.com.au (That's my
personal site)

If you have put a test site, then we need that address, similar to
http://www.celebrantassist.com.au/Site/Testimonials.htm

I just tried http://celebrantassist.com.au/wwwtest/ and it doesnt exist

Point is, you cannot view a page over an FTP connection. A web page is
designed to be viewed over HTTP, that requires a URL of the form
http://www.example.com/path/pagename.htm . With FTP, images, CSS and
JavaScript files will not display. This may be your problem.

Publish your faulty page to a server where it can be retrieved using such a
URL.
To hide it from the public, place the file in a subweb and publish the
subweb to your usual server. If you wish, you can send the link to ronx @
mvps.org (remove spaces) but it would be better posted here where many
experienced eyes can see it.

Do not send your password - the responsibility in keeping it secure is too
much.
