Can't Play over LAN & Can't Ping either!

Have Linksys Router. Son's PC connects with friends' PC/laptops to play over
LAN but my PC never "sees" them.

Noticed that in a DOS window I cannot ping much of anything--not even the
router! But I have Internet and Outlook access, no real problems. Have
uninstalled firewalls (and XP's is off) and doesn't make a difference.

(I CAN ping my network card. Whoopee.)

Hi NC Man,

Connect your PC directly to the modem.

If it works, contact Linksys and ask for configuration support.
If it doesn't work, call your ISP and ask them for setup help.

Connecting directly to the modem changed nothing. (Changing out the wires
didn't either.) I called Linksys--no help there. Said something about
reloading network application software but he didn't mean XP.

I don't think Road Runner will be any help either but I am trying them.

Great! We've narrowed down the problem to that one PC. :-)
Troubleshooting the problem from there will be easy for them.

I've always known only my PC has a problem. All the others on our home LAN
work just fine. The hold time for Road Runner was too long tonight. I'll try
another day but I'm not optimistic. Everyone just keeps passing the problem
off.
