My laptot used to play DVDs fine but then I had to reinstall Windows XP because of some problem and now it won't work anymore. Last time I hunted around for a decoder in my pc and found it but I have no idea what it was. Something like ATI driver or something. Could anyone tell me how to get the DVD player to work?

Thanks muches :)

Is the problem that you can't get the DVD to play in Windows Media Player,
or using the DVD software that was on your laptop? This could be Power DVD
or maybe ATI has a player that they installed on your laptop. For example,
my system has an nVidia AGP graphics card by LeadTek and their player is
called LeadTek WinFast DVD. It is the player used to play DVD's on my
particular system. Hunt up all the disks that came with your laptop. I'll
bet you find an install disk for a DVD Player.

I looked for a CD with a player but there isn't any, though I have InterActual already installed. It just doesn't read the DVD and it used to just fiine after I installed the ATI thing, which I installed by mere chance because I had no idea what it was. It was on my hard disk though, not on a CD-ROM. I get a message from InterActual that there is no decoder installed.

I can't afford to buy software and it's pretty useless if there's already something on my computer that can get the player to play my DVD's...
