Can't play CD in PPT presenation

I'm using MS office XP on a WINDOWS XP (home edition) operating system. I'm trying to play a CD in a PPT presentation. I've gone through the steps in setting that up but when I go to insert-movies and sounds-play CD audio track, I get the window to come up but it's not reading that I have an audio cd in the drive. I have a CD-RW drive

I've tried the same thing on MS office 2002 on a WINS 2000 operating system and it works perfectly.

What's going on withh Office XP on Windows XP

I don't think your problem is PowerPoint. Does the CD
play ok on this system outside of PowerPoint?

If not, you may need to fix your CD-RW driver or your
media software. You might want to also check for viruses.

2000 operating system and it works perfectly.
 
Actually the CD RW works fine. It plays other cds as well as the CD in question. When you put in that cd the autorun brings up media player to play the cd. That all works fine. It's only when I'm in PPT and trying to play the CD that it doesn't seem to recognize that there is a CD in the drive. FYI, I have a DVD drive as well. Perhaps, PPT doesn't know which drive to use

Was just gonna ask about this.

PPT seems to want to use the lowest-lettered CD drive. I have two CD/DVD
drives here, and PPT will only accept CD tracks from one of them. So try
your other drive.

PowerPoint doesn't have the ability to look to both drives in order to
locate your media disc..
