Can't play audio CD's

When I try to listen to an audio cd on WMP 9, i get
an error message saying "Windows Media Player cannot
find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed
correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at
the specified location, or the computer where the file
is stored is offline."

but when i open the cd folder all the files are 1KB each
and it says there are 0 MB used and 0 MB free. i have a
regular cdrom and a cdr, and they both do the same thing.
please help!!
 
oh yeah, it plays data cds and i can hear the sound
fine but it gets weird with audio cds.
if you can help that'll be great
