Cant Ping

For the longiest time now I'm unable to ping.

First all i did to fix it was did a spyware scan and I had some virus or worm preventing me from using the ping command.

I got rid of the file but I still cant ping.
I get this..

It looks like you have this:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

It is using a courrupt ping.com in your windows directly, preventing you from using the ping command. Try the steps in that link and it should fix it (you need to delete the file basically).

Oh, and run an antivirus - you said you did a spyware scan... that won't do anything to virus's.

So i was trying this,

i did a scan and spyware scan.

I tried to do the last step, in regedit.

and i get the same error when i type regedit in my run.

You could try running regedit in safe made..... You'll need to reboot the pc and press F8 before you see the windows logo and select 'safe mode' or you can somtimes get to the same menu by pressing and holding the Ctrl button until you are presented with a list of windows start options, top one being safe mode. This needs to be done when you first turn on the PC and POST has completed (the bios bit)........

You should also run the ativirus scan in safe mode as well, for a thorough clean and best resaults.
