We have a Win2k server (Dell), Dell switch, Linksys router, BEFSR41.
10 workstations, 2 printers. DHCP Server is enabled on the router
starting at 192.168.1.20 and 200 users. The ISP is SBC Global and we
have a static IP.
The router has port forwarding set up for pcAnywhere which works fine
when I connect from home and GoToMyPc also works fine.
Here are the issues.
The router has assigned IP's to 14 workstations from 192.168.1.20 to
192.168.1.185.. Everytime one of the workstations shuts down (not
often), the router assigns a new IP that's higher than the highest IP
(right now it's ...185) Is this normal and if not, how do I get the
router to assign a lower IP so we don't run out (which has happened).
Why doesn't it assign IP's consecutively?
Second issue. I can't ping the SBC static IP from outside the
network. Should I be able to??
