I think I posted in the General, but I repost here too.
I have this particular XP box, last Friday was fine.
Today, I am pinging a particular server name and it can't
reply but giving out a totally different IP address.
Example. the server is 10.0.1.157, but passing out
10.0.1.226 with a fail to reply. When I ping its IP
address, it works. It only happens to this particular XP
machine. The user stated that he has not install anything
on it accept Terminal Services. It uses DHCP, the
IPconfig is correct. THis box is working fine, email,
internet, everyday usage, but when trying to connect to
its .157 (SQL). It can't connect because I can't ping its
host name from this particular XP box. No other XP has
this problem. Any suggestion is appreciated. All the
securities and patches have been applied. Scan for
viruses and trojan, all are cleaned. I did a dnsflush and
register, but stil can't ping hostname. Even when I log
in as administrator account, same problem. I am at a lost.
Thanks in advance.
