We installed some new CPU's on our workstation and since
that time the networking has been weird. After the
install, the NIC's wouldn't store an IP address. I'd
assign them an IP address and close the window and next
time I opened the properties page, the NIC would default
back to DHCP. I uninstalled and re-installed TCP/IP and
that seems to have cleared up that problem but now I can't
ping by hostname. The host file is correct and I can ping
by IP address. But when attempting a ping <hostname> I'm
left with "Unknown host <hostname>" message. I copied
over a new host file that is also correct and I've flushed
the dns but I get the same error.
Please help!!!!
